The colour looks impressive from the get-go, light to medium ruby red. The nose doesn't disappoint (certainly benefited from some breathing time), offering a fragrant mix of spiced cherry, and dusty, mulchy undergrowth. Very much in the modern vernacular, with some bunchy stemmy savoury characters adding complexity and interest. The tannins are muscular and the fruit more roasted root vegetable, than pretty but not overipe. The sort of wine you would happily have one or more glasses in Australia's fashionable wine bars.
