You’ve got West and Western. And Jack West is the nom de plume, as it were, of John Lienert. Grapes come from Gomersal. Traditional style of Barossa Shiraz with blackberry, blueberry, a little perfume and spice, dill and toasty coconut oak. Medium to full-bodied, quite fresh and lively, though doesn’t lack oomph, moderate tannin, and a fresh finish of good length.

Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows dark berry, rich floral and roasted nut aromas with a touch of mixed spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours with supple texture and well-integrated tannins, finishing silky and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2029.
