There are those who love overblown, cartoon shiraz wines from the Barossa. Good on 'em. To each his own. More and more, though, our customers are reaching out for wines of elegance and finesse, with moderate alcohols, less extract, complexity and well meshed flavours - such as this! The BVE Shiraz 2018 is an essay in elegance. The fruit is succulent, the flavours languid, the whole package is seamless and, indeed, seductive. Although not a "big" shiraz, there is absolutely no shortage of black and red, pepper flecked, berry flavour. Classic regional chocolate notes can be noted, and the whole velvety package gently murmurs, "drinkability".

This has a V8 turbo engine, but it also knows how to quietly mooch along for a Sunday drive. There's a lot of oak, a lot of black and purple fruits, and a lot of tannins (in that order), but there's a surprising lightness of foot, so pick your time and your speed.
