Rare Old Port Ellen 1979 Scotch Whisky 700mL

An integral part of Gordon & MacPhail's Rare Old series is Port Ellen. Located on Islay, the distillery was closed in 1983 but remains one of the most sought after whiskies on the market. Smoke and liquorice influences with fruity undertones and hints of pear. Butterscotch and pear follow, with slight medicinal notes. The palate is sweet, with peat smoke elements emerging followed by hints of aniseed. The dry ash flavours are balanced with salty brine notes. This is definitely a whisky to try whenever you get the opportunity.
