Slick, full bodied and full of flavour. The American oak imparts some sweet vanillin rims to violet, blueberry and iodine. My gripe is the reduction, the bane of too much contemporary shiraz in this country. The effect is one of wet neoprene (for the surfers out there), or burnt rubber aromas. It may well blow off, but for an inexpensive wine it impinges on the imminent pleasure that most drinkers expect at this price.
