Château Rol ValentinSaint-Émilion 2010
About this product
St-Emillion seems to be a bit of a hotbed for the hip garagiste wine producers of Bordeaux, and Chateau Rol Valentin are decidedly in the mould. The pint-sized estate curates a mere five hectares of land under vine, with 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon available for wines. The fruit is hand-harvested and fermented in wooden tanks before being sent to new oak barrels for 18 months - though fined, the wine is bottled unfilterd. This is an expressive wine set to garrigue and herbal notes, with a satiny textued palate and a wash of brght fruit character. Exciting wines from former rugby player Eric Prissette.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.

A strong showing from this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that hit 14.7% natural alcohol, the 2010 Rol Valentin exhibits oodles of sweet black currant and black raspberry fruit along with some toasty oak and a note of charcoal embers in a full
