Establishing Lake's Folly in 1963, Max Lake has since become become a bona fide Hunter Valley icon. Making only 2 wines and concentrating most on their iconic Cabernet blend, Lake's definitely take the laid back approach to winemaking. Utilising traditional methods like hand picking, gentle crushing and open top fermenters, the Lake's Folly Cabernet is a lovely hark back to an old Australian 'Claret' style. The 2009 shows a palate that is clean and precise with loads of sweet cherry, blackcurrant and white pepper. With the addition of soft and integrated tannin and an acid balance the envy of most, this Lake's Folly Cabernet is sure to become one of the greatest Hunter Valley reds of the past 20 years.
