KaeslerOld Bastard Shiraz 2009
About this product
Made from a single vineyard that was planted back in 1893, Kaesler 'Old Bastard' Shiraz is one of the most foreboding, rich and full-bodied Barossa Shiraz available. When first released this wine confused the Kaesler winemakers somewhat, not knowing exactly which way this ethereal beast would turn. Now a few years down the track we can see those svelte mocha, chocolate, coffee bean, black fruit notes starting to win out over the great oak used to mature the wine.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

From the prime estate vineyard, planted in 1893, with an inimitable, Ralph Steadman label. The alcohol is 2.5% lower than that of the '08; it is beautifully supple, fresh and balanced, but retains the intensity, clarity and integrity of very old vine wine
