I'm one of those people you'd call a "single malt snob" - I usually abhor blended whiskies in most of their varieties unless as a mixer (i.e. Johnnie Walker Red) as I feel it to be a waste of a malt whisky that underpins the blend. However

Seal was not sealed properly could easily pull seal on and off without breaking it. Whisky was smooth could be a touch smoother. Should be around $500 max for quality however $800 is a very good price for 38 years compared to other stuff on
