Steingarten vineyard. An incredible site, according to Marco Cirillo. This is the wine that goes into the sausage making each year too, with the meat from the annual Cirillo pig – amazing salumi emerges from this yearly exercise and the salumi often appears at tastings at the winery, which falls among the highlights of a visit there. Fleshy textured, supple, shows some malt and dark berry fruit characters, touch of meaty-gamey character. Hearty red but still retains freshness, packed with cherry cola and liquorice, savouriness, pepper, chinotto. Mouthwatering finish, bright flavours, really delicious wine here.
