Light, bright and clear crimson-purple; an immaculately balanced and structured blend, no more than medium-bodied, but with intense cherry and plum fruit wrapped in a veil of silky tannins. Don't be fooled; this wine will live for decades.

Mint and aniseed, though perhaps more to menthol, cherry/berry fruit, plenty of spice, Underberg bitters, new leather – there’s no lack of flavour complexity and interest. It’s smooth and ripe with blood plum, nutty oak and coffee flavours, with a fatness to the tannin that makes it more appealing that than the straight shiraz – melting tannins rather than heart stopping ones. More generous and more interesting. The flavour and texture of it put me in mind of old vine Carignan or something grown around the Mediterranean – has integrity and an individual rustic appeal.
