A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, with an extended ferment of up to 40 days, all the components matured separately for 18 months in French oak, 25% new, 75% one year old. Vibrant crimson-purple, this is a beautifully structured and balanced wine, with red and black berry fruits, touches of violets and cedar on the bouquet and palate alike, the finish long and fresh.

It’s a cedary, tobaccoey cabernet with notes of earth and gravel and pencil. It’s ripe and curranty but not overly so, finely structured, elegant and yet powerful. I kept trying to pick a hole in it but I couldn’t. In the end I screwed the top back on and packed the bottle for dinner. A genuine compliment. The wine is a winner.
