Vintage 2016

Love the wine, love the value. It’s medium weight in the best of ways; it’s complex but not in-your-face about it; it feels and tastes authentic; it persists admirably. Tannin also stands up for itself in a ripe, assertive way, as it should do.

Vintage 2020
75/10/10/5% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/malbec/petit verdot. Cabernet, malbec and petit verdot from the Montgomery vineyard in Wilyabrup, merlot from the Blue Poles vineyard in Rosa Brook. Primary ferment on skins for a month, matured in French oak (30% new) for 12 months. Such a gorgeous nose here: licorice, bramble, cassis, cigar and freshly turned earth. In the mouth the wine performs as promised. The tannins are firm but fine – they will melt into the fruit with some time in a decanter. There's something old-school about this, in a really great way. Perhaps classical is a better word.
