About this product

Traces of vineyards from the 10th Century onwards have been found in the Morgon region of Beaujolais. An act dated 956 A.D.shows the sale of a vineyard by the Sire de Beaujeu to a local vassal. The Morgon area is one of the 10 crus of Beaujolais and produces earthy wines that can take on a Burgundian character after aging and are generally the deepest colour and most rich of the Cru Beaujolais. Within this Cru there is a particular hillside, known as Cote du Py, that produces the most powerful examples of Morgon wines. The Mommessin Morgon Grand Crus are from 30-45 year old vines and features ripe stone fruit with a touch of wild thyme, spices and dark chocolate on the nose. It boasts intense, brilliant crimson colour, revealing its structure, power and silky tannins on the palate. Ample and full-bodied with a long, remarkably complex fresh finish.
