An iconic Coonawarra red, first produced in 1955. The 2015 edition wears the crown easily, and with panache. We were intrigued by the delicatessen nose - smallgoods, meaty savouriness, and then blue fruit and clove spice. The fruit is deeply weighted, perfectly ripe and showing blacks and blues, licorice, cloves and sweet spices. The wine carries an air of importance. A powerfull multi layered thing of beauty with supple, effortless charm.

The spectacularly good 2015 Wynns Michael Shiraz has hardly moved a muscle since our first assessment..."An iconic Coonawarra red, first produced in 1955. A powerfull multi layered thing of beauty with supple, effortless charm." Perhaps a slightly more velvety finish is on offer. This ability to hold its shape and succulent flavour profile indicates that this wine, however well it's drinking now, is one for the long-haul.
