Vintage 2016
93 points
Koonunga Hill reds are designed, primarily, as utilitarian, "drink now" styles. Despite this, the richness of the wines and the the winemaking skills employed, allow them to age well in the short to medium term. The 2016 Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, having spent 5 years in our cellaring programme, is displaying the benefit of careful maturation. An invitingly aromatic nose of violets and blueberries draws you in. The palate boasts the typical richness of the great 2016 vintage. Plush, generous flavours of blackberries, plums, blue fruit, beet root along with malt and chocolate oak notes, contibute to an alluring red which represents excellent value for money. The finish is smooth, and the time you have to open the bottle is from now to 3 years.
