Apparently Wilberforce, the horse, was a stylish and sturdy animal with great stamina. Wilberforce, the wine, could be said to share similar traits. The wine certainly displays something akin to the perfect balance of a thoroughbred in motion. Layers of effortlessly flavoursome cherries and berries, interwoven with Barossa spice, roast plum, chocolate and savoury notes on a silky finish are what will bring you back for a second bottle.

Attractively fruited and gorgeously expressed, the bouquet shows blackcurrant, spiced plum, thyme, cedar and subtle game characters, leading to a succulent palate that is beautifully weighted and rounded. The wine offers lovely fruit richness together with spicy complexity, finishing long and silky. At its best: now to 2021.
