Woods CramptonPhillip Patrick Eden Valley Shiraz 2016
About this product
Woods Crampton specialise in making contemporary and balanced wines, a world away from the jammy fruit bombs of the past. The grapes are sourced from an outstanding fifty year-old vineyard, dry grown and planted on its own rootstocks. The approach is "minimal intervention winemaking that creates elegant wines". Expect intense but bright aromas of ripe berries and a palate that is truly well balanced and effortless with a core of powerful ripe plums and blue berries that are captured perfectly by astonishingly fine but long tannins.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Vintage 2016
97 points James Halliday Wine Companion
From 'a perfect parcel' yielding 1.5 tonnes per acre, cold soak, a long, cool ferment with 33% whole bunches, pressed to 70% new oak for 24 months maturation. The odds rack up even higher with this wine, with the fruit/oak/tannins components in balance, but still to knit together, which they will do.
