Dusty and leaf-strewn, but with a generous core of sweet, curranty fruit. Honeyed oak plays a role, too, as do saltbush and licorice. It threatens to go over the top but never does; it offers a seamless glide of ripe flavour.

30% new French oak. The remainder, a conflation of used American and French. Hewn of fruit exclusively from the Beresford Estate Vineyard, in the elevated subregion of Blewitt Springs. Fine tannins, firm and finessed and leafy in the best sense, saline and long-limbed. Fruit intensity of purity and real thrum. Think blackcurrant that remains savoury rather than sweet, a whiff of mint, violet and crushed rock. A potpourri of herbal complexity marks an impressive finish. I'm enjoying this suite from Beresford.
