The Mount Benson region, though little mentioned in discussions about chardonnay, has long produced some of the most flavoursome and characterful examples made in this country. The 2019 Oberon is a case in point - as honest as the day is long, richly fruited, with sliced granny smith apple, white stone fruit, quartz minerality, smooth texture and a refreshing acidity. The flavour seems to build in the mouth. Unobtrusive oak adds to an already creamy, luxuriant mouthfeel.
