PontingMilestone 257 Tasmania Pinot Noir
About this product
The '257' is crafted purely to reflect the pristine fruit quality of Tasmanian Pinot Noir. A single site in Meadowbank (North-West of Hobart), in the Derwent Valley, was handselected by Ben and Ricky to create this Milestoneworthy Pinot Noir. Following the path of the Derwent river, the soil is largely alluvial. Cool-climate influence from the Tasman Sea with plentiful sun exposure ensures long ripening for flinty flavour profile and elegant structure development. The 2022 vintage experienced a reasonably cool spring with refreshingly dry harvest conditions. Tasmania experienced an unusually warm and consistent vintage period, resulting in exceptional ripening conditions and a moderate yield. Single batch (50% whole bunch), barrel fermented in French oak (30% new). Brooding dark cherries, juicy rich raspberries and layers of savoury spice are elegantly balanced, bursting with ripeness and well-integrated delicate tannins. A bright wine to enjoy now, and will evolve well for many years to come.

It's complex and enticing on the nose with aromas of dark plum, sweet cherry, thyme, warm mushroom, and hazelnut. The palate exhibits fleshy texture and silky flow, wonderfully framed by finely infused tannins. Harmonious and beautifully proportioned with a lengthy, alluring finish. At its best: now to 2033.
