Rymill shiraz spends time maturing in both French and American oak - for nearly two years. It arguably shows too much oak on both the nose and in the mouth. It tastes of toast, vanilla, peppermint, coconut-cream and sweet, juicy plums. But it seems direct and well-structured, despite its opulent, showy oak. Length is not in question. This is one of the better Rymill shiraz I've tasted in recent years - it's certainly cleaner. Two or three more years and it should hit its peak drinking spot.
