Of the three '15 single vineyard releases, The Esplanade is the only one from the Lower Yarra Valley, and it exhibits its origins admirably. There is more power, intensity and structure. Deeply, coloured, the bouquet is a brooding mix of plum, dark cherry, and a hint of smoky oak. The palate is equally flavoured, with a line of savoury tannins that go on and on. I expect this release to age incredibly well, and could well need at least 10 years to begin to unfurl and strut its stuff.
