A strongly regional wine; dark chocolate poses no problems for shiraz, but sits less well with cabernet; its colour is good, as are the balance and texture afforded by its tannins and fresh acidity. If you want to enjoy it fully, just ignore the chocolate.

Cabernet from the foothills of the Mt Lofty Ranges; McLaren Vale. Dusty and slender but with the fruit weight to carry it through to a satisfying close. Flavours of kirsch, violet, raspberry and lifted, tomato-like herbs. You could describe this as both juicy and refreshing.
