Attractively fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows blackcurrant, spiced plum, thyme and dark chocolate characters, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that is plump and fruit expressive. The wine offers lovely fruit intensity and supple texture, finishing pleasingly dry.

The Barossa produces very good cabernet if you have a mind to search them out. And some years are better than others, of course. 2017 enjoyed a long Indian summer, aiding good acid retention and even ripening, which is ideal for cabernet. Some equate 2017 to the great 2002 Barossa vintage. The Vineyard Keeper Cabernet shows strong regional characteristics, a good depth of fleshy, brambly fruit and a touch of earthiness. It's a solid wine which should drink well in the medium term.
