20yo vines, includes 5% cabernet sauvignon, crushed/destemmed, open-fermented separately, cultured yeast, 12 days on skins, matured in French oak (40% new) for 15 months. This is serious merlot, blackcurrant/cassis shot with notes of herb and mineral, plum notable for its absence, tannins by their presence.

Same score and same quality level as the 2014, though for vastly different reasons. Showing typicically Merlot notes of vegemite-like yeasts (often noted in many of Australia''s best aged Merlots), fresher looking plums, a mulberry amalgam and energetic dark fruits with real length and presence. Delicious.
