Made from our best parcels of Grenache each vintage, Krondorf Stone Altar pays homage to the region's beginnings, celebrating rich and concentrated old vine fruit. Aged in new and seasoned French oak, then held back in bottle for three years before release. Drinks well now, or will reward cellaring. The palate offers a soft latent richness and silken-like texture with subtle notes of crushed cherries, Doris plum and earth with ripe supple tannins.

We were very excited to see this finally released. We know how good the winemaking team are, and we know how brilliant the fruit is from the 65 year old Ebenezer vineyard. The old saying of "an iron fist in a velvet glove" isn't far off the mark with this exceptional red. Incredible elegance, balance and flavour-filled length provide the first impressions. There's finely honed spicy plum and cherry, roasted notes, licorice, damp earth and charcuterie all deeply embedded and contributing to the harmony. A thrilling experience for lovers of grenache.
