V. E. Kraft The Vineyard ArchitectBarossa Valley Mataro Grenache 2016
About this product
Sourced from very old vines, some over 100 years old, this wine has real pedigree. The dark and brooding Mataro (the old Barossan word for Mataro) creates the structure, depth and power while the Grenache adds brighter fruit and perfume.

Vintage 2016

55/45% blend of mataro/grenache matured in 50/50% American/French oak. Complexity is its middle name. This isn't your standard fare. Graphite and leather, blackberry and anise, a touch of wood smoke. It's generous in proportion but the flavours go off on various tangents, in a positive sense. It will keep drinkers on their toes.

Comforting and gratifying, the sweetly perfumed bouquet shows spiced plum, blackberry, cedar, black olive and cocoa characters, leading to a super-smooth palate that is filled with delectable fruit flavours. The wine offers terrific fruit power while remaining balanced and structured, finishing superbly long and velvety. At its best: now to 2024.
