The wine was made in line with the principles of our Rhone core, however, due to the Spanish influence the wine is a “Black Sheep” of our Ulithorne family. The Specialis is earthy and brambly with fresh cherries, plums, and a hint of dried spice. It’s a savoury wine with chewy tannins, good flavour persistence, and balanced acidity. The addition of a small parcel of Graciano to the blend added complexity with a touch of dried herbs and spice.

This is gorgeously fruited and wonderfully harmonious, showing lifted aromas of blackberry, raspberry, vanilla, toasted nut and cake spice on the nose. The palate delivers excellent weight and fruit intensity, superbly complemented by velvety mouthfeel and fleshy texture. Opulent, flavoursome and gloriously long on the finish. At its best: now to 2030

A classically Spanish varietal mix finds great harmony with McLaren Vale in this young red. It has a saturated, deep colour and a sweet, ripe nose of immediate appeal. Raspberry, spice, leather, toasty and vanillin aromas introduce an earthy, rustic drop of good depth and sustained flavour. Integrated tannins harmonise it all well.
