Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed with cultured yeast, 9-10 months maturation in French oak (55% new). Shares many things in common with Block 8, not the least balance; here the fruit is a little richer, the oak infinitesimally more obvious. This is the better wine, but the old question remains: is it twice as good?

A big, bright, obvious style of chardonnay that uses all the weapons in a good "chardy" maker''s armoury. You''ll find ripe fruit, hints of flint, creamy lees characters and well judged French oak. There''s freshly forward stonefruit, nutiness and a gently spicy, quality oak finish.
