Produced from single region Barossa Valley fruit, and matured in French oak, the 2012 vintage is formidable. Sweet, savoury and oaky on the nose, with notes of christmas pudding, ground nuts, liquorice root, and chocolate. A deep black magenta colour, with a palate impressed with dark roasted meats, dark chocolate, soy and charcoal.
While RWT may be a new comer to the Penfolds range, it is impressive, and well placed among the luxury of the Penfolds collections. Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.
