Careful selection of both hops and apples was paramount to this Hop Edition release. After a few trials and experiments, a perfect blend was found to champion the powerful citrus and grapefruit aromatics from the Riwaka hops with The Hills Cider Co. signature clean apple flavour. Extra Jonathan apples from early in the season brought lots of crisp fresh apple flavours, which were further enhanced by the pineapple and tropical fruit of the El Dorado Hops. The first time working with the Idaho 7 hop rewarded them with subtle herbal/black tea notes, which helped to round out and balance the fruit forward palate. A higher than average oil content from both the Idaho 7 and Riwaka hops brings a cloudiness to this cider, which finishes with a hint of resin and pine needle.
