Dry, Full Bodied style of ShirazIndependent wineryThe De La Roche vineyard is possibly unique in Australia being a close-planted Shiraz vineyard. And for added interest, the vineyard has been planted with cuttings originating from the pedigree vineyards of Bests and Tahbilk. Dry-grown and organically managed by Bannockburn, the low yielding vines are already outperforming other vineyards that are much older, displaying exceptional fruit flavours and some very exciting results.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

“This is a medium-weight shiraz that’s big on personality. It’s bunchy, nutty and a little truffle-infused but the core of silken fruit, black cherries into sweet plum, has a plushness to it, and a seduction. Thus is a shiraz with garden herb, woodsmoke and graphite characters woven through, and more, and should rightly be filed under savoury, and yet at heart it’s fruity and generous. It unfurls as the evening progresses but really, even at hello, it has you sitting up straighter.” 95 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
