Dry, Light Bodied style of Pinot NoirPinot Noir grown at Serré Vineyard, a high density planting with low trellising and narrow rows to replicate the tough vineyard conditions of Grand Cru Burgundy. This block is possibly the oldest close-planted Pinot Noir vineyard in Australia. It certainly is the best of our Pinot Noir sites: uniform, focused, powerful and fragrant, every year. It will continue to develop and drink well for ten to 15 years or more.

Light bodied red wines have a water-light mouthfeel and light flavour impact. Often pale to light/medium in colour.

The wine itself is a delight. Intensely sweet-sour and with acids that many will find challenging – though it has all the inherent complexity to make it well worth the dare. Earth, undergrowth, sap, stalks, sour cherries, beetroot, tobacco and a light hand of smoky oak. It’s one of those ‘light’ pinot noirs that will build in the bottle; that said, it’s one of those light pinot noirs that, even as a young wine, has you marvelling at its wild parade of flavours. Terrific length too. It won’t be for everyone – many will question whether it has enough ‘substance’ – but I personally think this tastes brilliant.
