A 51/49% blend (no malbec) with 51% Barossa Valley, 32% Langhorne Creek and 17% McLaren Vale that spent 22 months in 61% new French, 19% new American, and 20% 1yo French oak. It is exceptionally fresh, the secret its very high (for red wine) 8 g/l of acidity and low pH (3.34). I believe it passes the test of balance (the alcohol of 15% is needed given the acid level) which means it will live for many decades under its screwcap. All the expected flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, bitter chocolate and cedar are there in abundance.

The youthful Christmas cake exuberance in this wine has settled in after nine years, and now exhibits fantastic richness of dark chocolate, blackberries, sticky date pudding and hints of mocha. The oak has been completely absorbed by world class flavour density yet still offers a mildly toasty support. Ripping wine having the time of its life.
