About this product

Thierry Pillot’s red wines have really come of age in recent years, to the point where they now hold their own compared with the Estate whites. Pillot’s friendship and gentle rivalry with brother-in-law Arnaud Mortet may have played a part in this improvement! Regardless, this is by some distance the finest Bourgogne Rouge we have shipped from this producer. The fruit comes from two Estate-owned sites in the southern reaches of Chassagne, near Chagny and Remigny. The soils are the classic clay and limestone of the Côte and the vine age is 35 years on average. The grapes were hand-picked and mostly de-stemmed before being naturally fermented and aged for 12 months on lees in a mix of steel vats and used large barrels.
