PenfoldsBin 2 Shiraz Mataro 2013
About this product
Mouth-filling and youthful. All fruit, no oak to speak of, albeit a concession of a little dark chocolate (wafer) artefact. Soft, svelte, rounded tannins - plush and ripe.

Densely coloured, a nose that promises richness; full, dark flavours of black currant, charcuterie, black olive, licorice, cloves and influences of cranberry and roast tomato. Wrapped in smoothing oak. A wine with a dark, complex heart, showing carefully developed nuances that only extended cellaring can bring.

The bouquet has all the charcuterie aromas in the book, the full-bodied palate dutifully following the course set by the bouquet, and adding plum cake and a dash of licorice; the tannins do their own work as well as that usually provided by Penfolds oak.
