About this product

One could be forgiven for thinking you'd just opened a good Bordeaux, given the varieties used, the structure and style, and the fine French oak employed. Assured and elegant, there's a new world plushness, mineral core and herbal freshness that gives the game away. Yes, it's Hawke's Bay from a very good producer - the fastidious Craggy Range. 73% Merlot, 13% Malbec, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Tasted in August, 2022, after a few restful years in our cellar, the wine is impressive and ready to drink now, although you should be in no hurry. A graceful flow of plum and and mulberry flavours, touched by cedar and sandalwood, and smoothed by soft, ripe tannins, provides for stylish drinking. 2013 was, clearly, a very good year for this label.
