Wendouree Cabernet Malbec is based on rare 19th-century vine stock material including malbec plantings from between 1898 and 1960, which provide the wine complexity, interest and a variation of theme. After traditional vinification, maturation takes place in new (20%) and seasoned French oak. This is a profoundly individual wine with intense, bright fruit, underlying maturation notes and firm but pronounced tannins.

Has a degree of impact and presence that caught me by surprise the first time I tasted it, no surprise from re-tasting other than the affirmation of its power. This is a wine of royal bloodlines, both of its predecessors and the 1971 Stanley Leasingham Bin 56 Cabernet Malbec adding a further testimonial.
