17.5++ points, Jancis Robinson, September 2021. 80- to 100-year-old Serine vines on the slope of Patou. 75% whole bunch. Aged for two years in new and one-year-old barrels. To be released autumn 2022. Cask sample.Very deep purplish crimson. Lifted, perfumed, intense wine like essence of liquorice. Seems incredibly round and supple at first and only on the end do you discern its underpinning of fine tannins. This is quite an exceptional wine that is clearly made from first-class fruit and has been treated with kid gloves in the cellar. Long and satisfying. Such a delicate hand that you could actually enjoy this with robust food already, though I'm sure it will develop beautifully.
