Vintage 2010
92+ points The Wine Front
From Bindi's 1988 plantings on the slopes of mighty Mount Gisborne, the fruit is selected from the middle and lower sections of the site, where the quartz rich soils are not quite as compacted and inflected, but still pretty to look at it for geologists. Winemaking is pretty simple, pick, de-stem, SO2, barrel, lees for nine months, part malo, sterile filter, bottle. Bright and fresh aromatics with lemon grass, wild flowers, wet pavement and intensity of stone fruit and citrus. Power-packed palate with concentration and vitality - acidity offers backbone and drive. Has firm peach and nectarine fruit sweetness, then courses to the finish with thick, steely minerality. Texture, but not blown out. Finishes slightly lactic, then crisps up. Love to see this chill out a little before next approach too.
