A McLaren Vale set piece, with its display of ripe, rich fruit and commensurate level of cedary oak. Blackberries, plums, nutmeg, cinnamon, and earth, with a gentle leafiness, are varietally on point. Oak steps up on the palate and together with firm, chewy tannins, leads the wine long and strong. It's superbly ripe and varietally expressive on the nose showing crème de cassis, cedary oak, dried herb and floral aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that's silky and supple. Gorgeously structured by fine chalky tannins, making it sturdy and lingering. At its best: now to 2032.
