Dry, Medium Bodied style of ChardonnayIndependent wineryPale straw. Complex bouquet, with notes of spicy oak, white peach, and citrus with barrel ferment characters. Fresh and bright, with a generous mid palate weight, white peach, oatmeal and pear balanced by refreshing acidity and cedar oak contributing texture and balance. Chardonnay was destemmed and pressed direct to barrel for fermentation using wild yeast. Then matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for 12 months, with regular lees stirring and minimal MLF, then fined, filtered and bottled in February 2019. Enjoy now or cellar for 4 to 8 years.

Medium bodied white wines have a lightly textured mouthfeel with moderate flavour impact. Often pale lemon coloured to pale gold.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Oakdene’s Liz’s Chardonnay always put on a show. There’s richness both to the flavour and texture here though it’s neat with it. Peach, cooked and dried apple, cedar and citrus flavours come infused with toast and burnt butter, though everything is both in harmony and in balance. It finishes with fresh, flowing feel though there’s a tautness here; it will be better again once it’s had a chance to relax.
