Medium deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant, dark chocolate, herb garden, star anise aromas with touches of Turkish Delight. Generous and inky with fresh ripe blackcurrant black cherry fruits, underlying roasted walnut complexity, some mid-palate viscosity/volume and vigorous grainy firm textures. Finishes grippy firm and crunchy with persistent dark fruits and a long tannin plume. Textbook example of this Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon style. But wait for a while. Drink 2022 – 2028.

Fruit from the Abbey vineyard and the Kidman Clytha block. Matured for 15 months in French oak (20% new). Garden mint, eucalypt, blackforest fruits and abundant exotic spice. This is earthy and rich and loaded with flavour. In the mouth, the muscular tannins become a central part of the experience, intermeshed with the fruit and shaping the long, tailing finish. Get this one in a decanter if you're drinking it in the next few years – it will sing.
