Vintage 2011
90 points
Gorgeous, well made, poised, lighter bodied and breezy, lick of tannin and beautifully framed. Opens very loose knit and warm, but gradually binds and hones into a beautiful wine of drive and easy drinking purity. Lovely flavour, seamless and delicious.

Vintage 2013
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with a good heart, with lighter garnet hues on the edge. The nose is softly full with deep and up-front, accessible aromas of savoury dark-red plum fruit harmoniously melded with spices, cedar and oak vanilla notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a positive core of savoury and earthy infused dark-red plum flavours, along with spices, liquorice and cedary layers. The fruit is juicy and sweet, and framed by grainy tannin extraction lending a grippy mouthfeel. The palate is lively and brisk with fresh, underlying acidity which carries the wine to a lingering, dry-textured finish with plum and cedary notes. This is a fresh, lively and grainy textured Rioja with up-front plum, vanilla and cedary flavours. Serve with coq au vin and game meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. 93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 2% Mazuelo, fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 4 months in cask.
