In fact, given their sheer vineyard potential—they’re capable of producing seven grand crus and an equal number of premier crus in any given vintage—this may well be the best and most consistent producer of great dry Riesling in the world.

German wines from the old Mosel Saar area are not like they used to be: intense, limey, crisp and very light and sleek. More a reflection of the warmer climate and probably also better viticulture that the Germans now practice. Good luck to
