Stiegl Beer is a symbol of Salzburg city, and well embedded in its history. Stiegl's brewery restaurant is located in the heart of Salzburg, next to the stairs up to the Fortress "Festung Hohensalzburg" - Stiegl means stairs in English. By 1650 Stiegl was already Salzburg's biggest brewery, and it's quite possible that Mozart enjoyed this beer with his friends in the 1780s.
