In 1922 the son of Pierre, Bernard, took over the running of the house and bought the famous Grand Cru vineyard at Charmes-Chambertin. The 1990 Charmes-Chambertin is a majestic wine that is looking like a grand old Burgundy at this point in it's life. Primary fruit has made way for lovely savoury notes of small goods, dry herbs and lots of spice. A
