Impenetrable red-purple; rich, concentrated and luscious blackberry/blackcurrant/cassis fruit on both bouquet and palate has largely - though not entirely - subsumed the oak. Likewise, the tannins are there, but are in perfect balance.

Toasty, tannic, blackberried and terrific – though its flavours are so tightly bound that undressing its true charms will take a remarkably patient seducer. It’s a deep brooding purple-black with a bouquet of warm blackberries, a touch of volatility, spicy/toasty oak and the faintest vanilla/licorice. The palate has a smoky charriness with a rash of tannins breaking right across it, and while there’s profound black-fruit depth it’s tense and taut and nervy right now.
