The two siblings, have named this collaborative range after a Burge family vineyard, where they spent many childhood years, affectionately calling it ‘The Sandmine’ vineyard due to its location near a neighbouring sandmine. The old vineyards roots run deep into the soil giving them constant access to the underground water. The range includes a flagship wine for each of the duo, The Grenache favoured by Amelia for its rich black-currant, red and dark fruit flavours. This modern Barossa Grenache, from the family’s 100 year old bush vines is a fruit driven style, with mouth filling richness and subtle tannins.

Medium bodied red wines have a lightly textured mouthfeel with moderate flavour impact. Often medium in colour.

Taste this grenache and ponder - what wines were made from those vines over the past century? Port? Big, over ripe, old fashioned reds, perhaps? The vines been very lucky to survive, given the financial encouragement growers were given to uproot them in the 70's. Forget the past, the 2019 crop has been transformed into an "up to the minute", fashionably spicy, savoury, bright fruited, medium bodied red - the kind of grenache that today's drinkers are stampeding towards. Stylish, flowing, flavour packed black and red fruit, complemented by walnut tannins. This vintage takes the fruit from those ancient grenache vines in an appetizing and exciting new direction.
